The Vatican’s press office, “Holy See” released the first picture of Pope Francis since His hospitalization at the Gemeli Hospital on 14th February 2025.
According to Vatican the Holy Father participated in the second Sunday of Lent by concelebrating mass in a chapel inside the hospital on Sunday morning.
Through His socials, Pope Francis reflected on the Gospel of the day derived from the book of St. Luke. He said, “the gospel of the day tells us about the Transfiguration of Jesus (Lk 9:28-36). Jesus immerses Himself in prayer and becomes radiant with light. In this way, He shows the disciples what is hidden behind the gestures He performs in their midst: the light of His infinite love.”

He also expressed his gratitude to everyone who continue to pray for His recovery since he was diagnosed with double pneumonia.
“I would like to invite you, today, to join me in praising the Lord, who never abandons us and who, in times of sorrow, places people beside us who reflect a ray of His love. I thank you all for your prayers, and I thank those who assist me with such dedication,” Pope Francis said.
Prior to the picture revelation, the Pope’s doctors had issued statements regarding His health. In the latest update, the Pontiff’s medical condition was stable with gradual improvements after a series of therapies. It was however reported that Pope Francis would continue with His stay at the hospital as doctors monitor his clinical map.
“Pope Francis continues high-flow oxygen therapy, progressively reducing the need for non-invasive mechanical ventilation during the night. The Pope still requires hospital medical care, as well as physiotherapy and respiratory physiotherapy,” a statement from the Holy See read in part.
This comes after the Holy Father celebrated 12th anniversary of his pontificate on 13th March 2025.
