A young generation slowly loosing focus

Growing up, the young were barely allowed to visit relatives and friends living thousands of
miles away, in fact they could land into trouble with their parents if they ever mention traveling
to their distant relatives’ places. But again, there was a bunch who got lucky and managed to
fulfill their wishes, an experience which however, was limited to less than twice every year.
Although this kind of treatment from parents felt awkward, it justified their effort and protective
nature against the uncertainties of early exposure to the outside world.
Thanks to the changing world, everything has taken a different trajectory since the youthful
generation are now well informed thanks to civilization. I would say that exploring the outside
space away from home helps young people to think beyond their noses.
Many teenagers have gotten the opportunity to move around and see what the world has to offer
thanks to education. As a matter of fact, it is worth giving credit to educational systems for
coming up with a criterion that ensures students are placed in learning institutions that are far
from their respective homes.
This practice contributes to a healthy psychological growth of the person in question. Sharing
educational or working spaces with individuals from different backgrounds provides chances for
young people to be open minded, responsible and above all visionary, traits which are key in the
betterment of societies.
Exposure acts as a catalyst to the realization of full potential amongst the young people because a
time is coming when the aged will no longer be fit to hold public offices. But will this young
generation be ready to claim what rightfully belongs to them when the time comes?
Unfortunately, we are leaving at a time when exposure among the youth has been accompanied
by too much freedom making the latter to lose focus. This explains why the present-day youths
throng clubs and engage in alcohol and drug abuse.
As if this is not enough, youths have now taken the lead in practicing sexual immoralities such as
pornography, prostitution et al. The same people the nation is counting on.
With certain decisions made at personal levels, it is often challenging to come to terms with the
misdemeanors the youth decide to carry out. If these misdeeds by the young is succeeding in
depriving the country the brains that could have been in the forefront in making desirable
decisions and providing solutions to critical problems, then the future of the nation is doomed.
