Pope Leo XIV has issued a statement condemning the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran that has resulted to the death of innocent people including women and children.
Acknowledging the worsening situation, the Holy Father appealed to all parties involved in the war to act with wisdom and restrain. The Pontiff also emphasized the need to build a safer world free from nuclear threats.

He also called for and encouraged for genuine conversations involving dialogues to restore peaceful coexistence.
“The situation in Iran and Israel has deteriorated drastically. I renew my appeal to responsibility and reason. The commitment to build a safer world, free from nuclear threats, must be pursued through mutual respect and sincere dialogue, in order to build lasting peace founded on justice, fraternity, and the common good,” the Pontiff said in His statement.
Leo asserted that no nation should threaten the existence and survival of another. He urged all nations around the globe to pursue and support peace efforts that would promote solutions to conflicts.

“No one should ever threaten the existence of another. It is the duty of all countries to support the cause of peace, initiating paths of reconciliation and promoting solutions that ensure security and dignity for all!”
The Pope’s statement comes amid intense missile attacks between Israel and Iran.
Recent reports indicate that the death toll in Israel alone has surged to 24 following devastating hits meted by Iran on Tel Aviv. Meanwhile Iran’s death toll climbs to 224, with more than 1,200 people injured.
