It was all smiles as His Lordship Matthias Konig, the Auxiliary Bishop of Paderborn Archdiocese-Germany cut the ribbons and sprinkled Holy Water to mark the official blessing of YOUNIB Media House.

The ceremony attended by the TV Station’s crew and affiliates of the Youth Network for Interreligious Brotherhood, would later proceed with a Holy Mass to celebrate a milestone that the media house has achieved since its establishment in January 1st, 2022.

Songs, dances, ululations and praises filled the air as the seemingly happy youth treated Bishop Konig with the taste of a Kenyan and African style of mass, slightly different from the European way as the bishop would later assert.

During an interview with YOUNIB TV’s Peninah Wachera, Bishop Konig acknowledged the work done by the station’s vibrant young adults in disseminating information to a broad audience.

Bishop Konig reiterates that the youth play a significant role in shaping the future of the church. Giving reference with a similar group in Germany called YOUPAX, His Lordship Konig says that the group also utilizes various media means to promote spiritual faith.

“YOUPAX just like YOUNIB, is a group of bright and enthusiastic young people who use various media platforms to promote faith and also engage in catechism, adoration prayers and at the same time using the opportunity to participate in social activities that aim at fostering unity among them,” he said.

In his message to the Kenyan youth, the servant of God reminds them of what is at stake.

“You are the majority in the society and on you depends on how the country will develop.” He advices the youth to focus on education and follow career paths that fulfills them. He also calls on the Kenyan youth to pray for their peers in Europe, especially Germany to realize the importance of faith and prayers.

Wrapping up his visit and tour at the YOUNIB tv studios, bishop Konig expressed his satisfaction with what he has experienced.

“What I have seen is breathtaking. The unification of young people from various denomination shows how strong faith can be expressed.”

The director of YOUNIB Media House Alfonce Ouma, thrilled by the events of the day, submits that the bishop’s visit solidifies the purpose of the station’s foundation, which he says is rooted in spiritual faith.

“This visit will greatly impact our operations by giving us credibility and strengthening our connection with the church and the community. It reinforces the trust that people will have in YOUNIB TV as a media house that is committed to truth, education, and empowerment,” he said adding that, “it opens doors for collaborations with faith-based organizations in Germany especially the youths (YOUPAX) and other stakeholders who share our vision”.

Alfonce states that moving forward, the TV station will vent more energy on expanding production capabilities and aim at broadcasting content that is youth centered and far reaching.

“In the coming years, I see YOUNIB TV becoming a leading youth-centered media house in Kenya, known for authentic storytelling, impactful journalism, and empowering narratives that shape the next generation”.
