Kalonzo calls for President Ruto’s resignation over failure to curb abductions!
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged president William Ruto to vacate office over
failure to control abduction cases that have been on the rise. Speaking at the party headquarters
in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon, Kalonzo says the president must take full responsibility
concerning the recent kidnappings.
“We demand that President Ruto respect Kenyans and the oath of office he has sworn to preserve
under Kenya’s constitution 2010. If Ruto refuses to respect and enforce Kenya’s constitution and
laws, the resolution is straightforward, he should resign,” he stated. He added that the
government should move with haste and release the remaining abductees.
Kalonzo further condemned the inspector general of police, Douglas Kanja for condescending
court invites stating that no one is above the law. The court had ordered IG Kanja to appear
before it on 27 th of January or face conviction and sentencing.
He reminded those who perpetrate violent crimes against Kenyans that their acts will not go
unanswered.
This comes at a time when the country’ attention has been drawn to a development where the
Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Justin Muturi alleged that his son was abducted by the
National Intelligence Service NIS led by Noordin Haji. Muturi claimed during a press briefing
that the NIS were solely behind the abductions.
Jubilee Party Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni who flanked Kalonzo, condemned the
utterances of some of the lawmakers allied to President Ruto and termed them as divisive.
Kalonzo Musyoka also announced the expulsion of Wiper’s deputy party leader, Farah Maalim
for violating the constitution of Kenya and the rights of Kenyans.
“Wiper Deputy Party leader, Farah Maalim stands expelled for violating the constitution and the
rights of Kenyans and even abusing Kenyan mothers,” Kalonzo said.
Maalim, was recorded abusing Ruto’s critics during a rally with the president in Cheboror, Uasin
Gishu County. He called out those opposing Ruto’s leadership and assured the Head of State of
his support for a reelection come 2027.
